The Gulf of Poets extends from Porto Venere to Lerici, two beautiful seaside towns that mark its beginning and end. In the centre is located La Spezia, the main city and heart of the gulf.
The gulf is dotted with seaside villages, churches and medieval castles, as well as sandy beaches and pastel-colored houses.
A land loved and celebrated by artists and poets.
Two important sporting events take place in the area: the Palio del Golfo, a rowing race between the 13 villages of the gulf and the Byron Cup for open sea swimming. Among the more charming events is the feast of Saint Venerio, patron of the Gulf, on September 13.
